Fall brings two of my favorite things: the sound of crunching leaves
and the sound of music: the free Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. This is one of the phenomenal gifts from the Warren & Chris Hellman Family. Over 3 days we are treated to our choice of 88 bands on 6 stages.Above, the amazing portrait photographer, Kevin Kelleher, took my picture. Below are the best cowgirl boots I've ever seen. Unfortunately they are not mine but too wonderful not to share!
Friday noon John C. Reilly (of Walk Hard:Dewey Cox, Step Brothers, Talladega Nights fame) and Friends opened at the main stage. They were my favorite of the day with Patsy Cline & Hank Williams covers.
Elvis Costello, singing solo, closed the first night.
Emmylou Harris and her Red Dirt Boys closed the festival Sunday evening. They sang two of my favorite Flying Burrito Bros. songs.
