EMBRACING FRIVOLITY
At 72 I am blessed to feel like a teenager and occasionally like an 8 yr. old. My first priority is self-care: of physical body, spiritual journey, emotional and financial well being. My next priorities are family, friends and community. I eat and drink healthy, exercise/play often, love my family, dog and many friends. I help when/wherever I can, share my burdens and abundance; am dedicated to spiritual practices, loving abundantly and count my many blessings throughout the day.

Autodesk Design Night 9.5.13
Another amazing monthly celebration at Design Night:
Makeup artists did their magic on me with bling around the eyes. The blue, 3D printed, beehive bauble , I made into earrings. The clothes on the runway for the fashion show were hi-tech, 3D printed and wildly creative.
Design Night is an event held the first Thursday of the month at the Autodesk Gallery in San Francisco. At each event, guests explore a different theme—such as biomimicry, light, robotics, athletics, music, transportation, biology or exponentially that challenges the conventionally narrow definition of design. They endeavor to reflect the Design Night theme in all aspects of the event, from the activities guests enjoy, to the food they eat, to the music they hear. Design is all about experience, so why limit that experience to just talk?

That's me on the
left at the August Design Night: Music. We danced the night away and made
old fashion, analog records.
$25 gets you in
with all the fun, food and drink you can handle. For Designistas! there
will be folk-inspired florals, alpine animal prints, and ... technology? That's
right. For everyone with a passion for fashion, what's hot this season is high
tech. Technology is turning the world of fashion on its embellished ear, from
stunning computer-designed jewelry to fierce 3D-printed gowns (no, really). So
rock your favorite outfit, and strut on over to Design Night to experience:
• A talk by Francis Bitonti, co-designer of the famed
Dita Von Teese 3D-printed gown
• Makeup artistry
• Make your own accessories
• And much more!

Cowgirl Halloween
I had fun being in full regalia as a cowgirl this Halloween. The cap guns are old and still work, popping real caps with that nostalgic caps smell.
I LOVE my Tony Lama belt with amazing horse buckle, a generous and treasured gift from Pat & Jim!!!!!!
The real spurs fit the Dan Post snakeskin, boots perfectly. No candy but lots of compliments!

Fall Leaves
Fall brings two of my favorite things: the sound of crunching leaves
and the sound of music: the free Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. This is one of the phenomenal gifts from the Warren & Chris Hellman Family. Over 3 days we are treated to our choice of 88 bands on 6 stages.
Above, the amazing portrait photographer, Kevin Kelleher, took my picture. Below are the best cowgirl boots I've ever seen. Unfortunately they are not mine but too wonderful not to share!
Friday noon John C. Reilly (of Walk Hard:Dewey Cox, Step Brothers, Talladega Nights fame) and Friends opened at the main stage. They were my favorite of the day with Patsy Cline & Hank Williams covers.
Elvis Costello, singing solo, closed the first night.
Emmylou Harris and her Red Dirt Boys closed the festival Sunday evening. They sang two of my favorite Flying Burrito Bros. songs.

Costa Rica Reflections
Indeed, it's been a month since my last posting. I am back in the USA and reflecting on my awesome month in Costa Rica. So let me continue with my Costa Rica odyssey.
I call this post reflections because the following photos show the water below reflecting the trees above. They are from Tortugero, a jungle area on the eastern coast, the Caribbean. The canals criss cross the dense tropic wilds. The trees secrete a resin that turns the waterways black, creating a mirror-like reflecting surface for the flora producing a magical mandala of shape, color, form & lines.

Red frog with blue jeans
Seeing the one inch, red, poison dart frog, in it's natural environment, was one of the goals of my trip to the rainforest. I was not disappointed as they were plentiful and colorful. Because of the blue legs they are said to be wearing blue jeans.
The green guy with red eyes was a nice bonus!
